President-Elect Yuko Kasuya took part in the international workshop "The Intersections of Theory, Method, and Context: Asia and the Discipline," held at the City University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from 6-7 June 2024.

The workshop delved into the interfaces between contextual knowledge and disciplinary practices in the study of Asian politics. Prof. Kasuya participated in the plenary roundtable titled “Prevailing Trends and the Regional Context,” where she discussed the historical development and future trajectories of political studies in and on Asia, alongside scholars from Australia, the UK, and the US.

The two-day workshop saw political scientists from leading universities in East and Southeast Asia present pioneering research and reflect on the synergy between disciplinary specialization and regional context. The event was jointly organized by the CUHK’s Center for Public Affairs and Law, the Department of Public and International Affairs, the Southeast Asia Research Center, and the Hong Kong Political Science Association.
